Kansas melon

 Origin - USA.

Days to ripen -

Rind - Oval, ridged and netted  Flesh - Orange and good flavour but fibrous.    Fruit weight - to 2 kg.

Ripeness indicator - Turns yellowish under the netting and slips. Also develops a nice muskmelon scent.

A very rare heirloom from the US. Vigorous vines with a great yield.  Dependable.

My Notes:  I am growing Kansas this year (2011). It is not growing well, could be the hot, dry weather. I have barely got any fruit on the vines.

Update, All the fruits rotted just as they were ripening, even though the weather was fine. It was the only melon to do this. Not happy.
